Special Charities

In the spring, at the end of each RWA year, we provide monetary donations to support additional charities voted on by our group.

Throughout our year, we also strive to collect items and donations to support local charitable organizations such as the Food Pantries and Women's Shelters.

Core Charities

We contribute money from our fundraising efforts annually to our five core charities:

  • Oakmont Carnegie Library
  • Oakmont Volunteer Fire Department
  • Verona Volunteer Fire Departments
  • Riverview Community Action Corporation
  • Oakmont Recreation Board

The women of  RWA have multiple opportunities to give back to our local community through various service projects and charitable contributions. Some individuals in our group also often choose to volunteer directly with other local service organizations including Meals on Wheels and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

Those plastic bags you drop off at Giant Eagle? Will be put to good use. After we finished sorting (gotta get rid of any garbage) and bundling, the bags went to a baler. From that location the bags will go to a plant in Virginia where they’ll become park benches. The benches are in the Oakmont and Verona area. One bench is at the cemetery up the hill.
PISA graciously gives a room for storage and sorting and supplied lunch for the workers. It was actually a pleasant couple of hours.
